Focus Study IV Materials.  Focus Study IV examined the policies and practices used by states, districts and schools to ensure access to the general education curriculum for students with disabilities. Six districts across five states participated in Focus Study IV. Individual interviews were conducted with state, district and school administrators, and with classroom teachers. Teachers were also asked to complete a checklist.

Wave 4 Surveys (2004-2005). Wave 4 surveys will be distributed in fall 2004 as part of the fourth round of data collection.  These surveys are revised versions of the instruments that were administered in Waves 1 through 3.

Wave 3 Survey (2003-2004).  The State Education Agency Questionnaire conducted in Wave 2 was revised and distributed in late 2003.  The questionnaire covers the 2003-04 school year.  Unlike surveys conducted in Waves 1 and 2, school district and school surveys were not included in this wave of data collection.

Focus Study III Materials.  Focus Study III is examining paperwork and administrative requirements mandated by federal and state special education regulations, in particular their impact on schools and school districts. The results of the study will be used by OSEP in preparation for the upcoming reauthorization of IDEA. Districts across five states are participating in Focus Study III.  Parents, school administrators, and support staff are participating in focus groups and school staff are completing time logs on time spent on paperwork and administrative-related activities. (Note: Final versions of these instruments were posted July 31, 2003.)

Focus Study II Materials.  In Focus Study II the policy research team addressed the topic of parent involvement, including resolving disputes with schools, in addition to continuing to study the implementation of the issues addressed in the Congressional questions.  We studied districts nested in five states.  School administrators,  teachers, parents, mediators, and community agency staff participated in Focus Study II.  (Note: The Focus Study II instruments listed below have been revised and final versions were posted on June 4, 2002.)
