Overview. The Study of State and Local Implementation and Impact of the
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, SLIIDEA, has been
designed as a national assessment to examine how the changes in
the 1997 IDEA amendments are affecting states, districts, and
schools, as well as infants, toddlers, children and youth with
disabilities and their families. In these Wave 1-Data Tables
are the responses from states, districts, and schools for the
1999-2000 School Year. A nationally representative sample for
Wave1 data collection included 51 states plus D.C., 950 districts
and 4,534 schools. Response rates for states, districts and
schools surveys were 100 percent, 31 percent, and 40 percent,
respectively. District and school non-response surveys were
conducted. The district sample was re-weighted based upon data
obtained from the non-response survey to support data
analysis.
The data presented here, in the Data Tables, are based on
responses from the following surveys:
- State Education Agency
Questionnaire;
- Local Education Agency
Questionnaire;
- Elementary School Module;
- Elementary School Principal
Questionnaire;
- Middle School Module;
- Middle School Principal
Questionnaire;
- High School Module; and
- High School Principal
Questionnaire.
These tables and related discussion appear in the Final
Report on Selected Findings. Copies of the survey instruments are available for download on the
Data Collection Instruments page.
